Getting Started Guide > Creating Subscription

Creating Subscription

The steps to create a subscription:
  1. Click the Subscription Add Subscription in the Replicator window to display the Subscription option, as shown in the following figure:

  2.
    Adding Subscription

  3. Click the Subscription option to display the Subscription dialog box as follows:

  4.
    Publisher-Subscriber Model

Different data fields in Subscription window are:
    • Subscription Name: Enter the name of the subscription to identify the subscription that you want to create.
    • Bidirectional: Select this check box to create a bidirectional subscription. On selecting Bidirectional, Replicator allows you to replicate data from publisher to subscriber and vice versa.
    • Winner: Select a radio button to specify the datasource from which you want to replicate data in case of conflict resolution. For example, if you select the Publisher as Winner, then in case of conflict resolution the changes made in the publisher is applied to the subscriber and the changes made by the subscriber is lost.
    • Data Source: Select Publisher DataSource and Subscriber DataSource name from the combo box.
    • Create Schema: Check this check box if you want to create structures of database tables in subscriber according to the structures of database tables in publisher.
    • Populate Existing Data: Check this check box to specify that the existing data of subscriber also takes place in the replication process.

Note: If you select the Subscriber as Winner, then in case of conflict resolution the changes made in the subscriber will be applied to the Publisher only when you select the Bidirectional. In case of Unidirectional, you can't select Subscriber as Winner.

  5. After selecting the Publisher and Subscriber datasource names, you can perform filtering. To perform Filtering, click the filtering buttons, such as Row Level Filtering or Column Level Filtering in the Subscription dialog box. To know how to perform filtering, click Filtering.
  6. After Filtering, click the OK button to add the subscription.
